- GVC did use AT&T chip sets in old days of their (AT&T's) better fortunes but
- not for too long. AT&T screwed up by charging quite a bit more for chip sets
- with V.32terbo which fact alone dug the grave for it and was behind its dismal
- market penetration. (list of "Don'ts" under Marketing 101).
-
- furthermore, AT&T has been offering a single flavor, restricted in
- functionality, in flavors, in customization options which is exactly opposite
- of what today's modem and PC peripheral market is about (lack of international
- product, lack of cellular drivers for portables (except for VERY few), lack of
- multifunction combos, lack of connections with app software industry...)
-
- given the fierce competition in the fast moving modem market, being a
- manufacturer it is hard to make a living with AT&T chip set, no matter how good
- their single flavor is. (not to say it is any better than others').
